i love this photo taken by Joelle

in attempting to transfer music files from one hard drive to another, my computer informed me that i didn't have access privileges to complete the task, and that i'd need to changes my preferences to continue. sure enough, after tooling around in my preferences folder, i found that my access privileges were indeed locked. i simply unlocked them and viola! access granted.

i write this because the exercise i just described is applicable to all aspects of my life. i hold the key to unlocking my joy and expression at any given moment. i've always understood this intellectually, but practicing it on an emotional level is relatively new for me. "A New Earth" by Eckhart Tolle has played an enormous part in this revelation.

i'm sure that's why i enjoyed myself so much in Europe these past 3 visits. i never really liked visiting Europe before 2008 (can you believe that!). i can admit it now because i've totally changed my mind, or better yet, i stopped consulting my mind. i'm different now. i am no longer the me trapped behind a locked cerebral door. i've found a key. vive le France.

tres gay paree

this is me wearing one of the gayest outfits i've worn in years. well, probably not years, maybe the gayest outfit i've worn in months... ok, it's only been a few days since i've worn something this gay, but this was different. this is Paris!

everybody i encountered yesterday did a double take, as i swished my narrow ass down the avenues of the fashion capital of the world. and honey, i was "letting them have it" too, especially since i was wearing my brand new Christian Louboutin sandals. oh and trust, with every step i took, i made sure everyone could see the trademarked red sole of my trendy, overpriced little slippers... just like Oprah.

oui oui mimi

i don't have to work until tomorrow, so today we're gonna do Paris museums & galleries. Joelle and i will go together, but split up once inside. i like to view art on my own with headphones securely in place. if something catches my eye, i'll stop and spend time with it. otherwise, i just stroll through the joint jamming the box. i'm pretty sure today's playlist will be E=MC2. my favorite cuts at this moment are "for the record", "side effects" & "thanx 4 nothin".

here's how E=MC2 is sequenced in my ipod:

1. touch my umbrella (Rihanna mash-up)
2. migrate
3. side effects
4. i stay in love
5. thanx 4 nothin'
6. for the record
7. bye bye fJay-Z
8. i'll be lovin' u long time
9. last kiss
10. heat
11. 4real4real f/Da Brat
12. love story
13. friendz
14. i'm that chick
15. o.o.c
16. cruise control
17. touch my seamus haji club mix

Régine

Régine Zylberberg was on our flight to Paris yesterday. she is credited with inventing the Discothèque.

we arrived to the quintessential "Paris in Springtime" day. so sunny and lovely that we walked around for hours soaking in the crisp sunshine. finally, we gave in to our exhaustion and napped till nightfall. later, Travis Hutchison had an intimate dinner party for us at his apartment. really terrific. here is Travis at the launch party for his book about New York's infamous Pyramid Club.

don't shop till you get enough

Mike Ruiz took me to the Dita Von Teese party tonight at an old synagogue on the Lower Eastside, the same old synagogue that hosted the Jade Jagger party last week, where i ran into Tom Silverman of Tommy Boy Records.

i haven't done the New York social scene in years, so it was wild running into people i haven't seen in a very long time. tonight i bumped into Suzanne Bartsch, Raja, Zaldy, Paul Alexander, JoJo America, Russell Simmons and Jimmy James. i even did the red carpet, which always scares the Dickens out of me. i get nervous and start to sweat.

to justify my clothes shopping, i've vowed to wear at least three different outfits per day... tonight, i squeezed in a fourth. we go to Paris tomorrow afternoon, and given the dollar is worth 45¢ over there, my mantra is "i will not shop - i will not shop".

sexistentialist

they showed the TV game show "Jeopardy" on our flight and my name came up as one of the answers. can you imagine how effin surreal that feels? especially since i'm constantly questioning if i really exist. (ex-squeeze me?) i've been told my name has come up a few times before on that show, but this was the first time i've witnessed it.

rupaula deen

i got up into drags this morning and taped The Paula Deen Show for the Food Network. she has always been one of my favorite TV personalities and in person she is 100% pure love. we had a great time. the theme of today's show was "divas", so Susan Lucci & Suze Orman were also guests. not sure when it will air. surprisingly, Gordon Elliott was the producer of the show. you may remember him from his mid-ninties talk show... big Australian hunk a spunk. now, i'm off to JFK for a flight to Palm Springs.

"y'all know who this is"

today, i went out and got the most anticipated album of the year, even though i've had the leaked version for over a week now. i love E=MC2. my favorite cuts (today) are "side effects" "thanx 4 nothin" & "that chick".

the whole album is boss. i can't stop playing it, but i could really do without the sound of Jermaine Dupri's voice. he sounds like an ADD child jacked up on Flamin' Hot Cheetos & Cherry Coke. another cock killer is MC quoting the bible in "i wish you well". the only thing that could deflate my stiffy faster would be Jermaine Dupri quoting the bible.

Op-Ed: Mike M.

Dear Y'all;

As we know, movies are all subtext. A movie, watched on "mute", IS the story. The visuals are the story. The dialogue and score are filler. The visuals in the trailer, poster, etc. trick the viewers into the theatre.

I recently saw the trailer for the upcoming Indiana Jones movie. I looked closely. This is what I saw.

1) Hero is shown as a white "cowboy" who kills everyone in sight. Looks like they dug up Ronald Reagan/John Wayne and reanimated the corpse. He jokes that although he is ancient he still can beat and kill guys 50 years younger with little effort. Every action is cheating, tomb looting, driving to kill or screwing a chick young enough to be his great great granddaughter. 25 y.o. underpaid stunt double does all real work. Gets paid about $25 million to be in movie.

2) First batch of villains---tribal savages. These are located in South America (?) but are generic movie villain savages. They could be African, Australian aborigines, Mayans, pissed off Eskimos, Egyptians, Malaysians, etc. they are just faceless non-white hoardes. The non-whites are shown as savage bloodthirsty lunatics, running amok and killing those poor whiteys who have invaded their land and stolen their culture's most holy ancient artifacts. The fact they are trying to recover the treasure that the whitey has come and stolen is portrayed as proof they are villains and the whitey is a hero. Yeah, that makes sense.

3) Second batch of villains---Russian commies led by a killer bull dyke. Cate Blanchett is the dyke and looks so manly that in the trailer at first I thought she was a man. The premise is made for republican trolls who still think this is 1958---the "Cold War" is still ongoing, Russkies are superhuman monsters, Americans are godlike supermen, castrating dykes are in every closet, and that sums up the entire world. The Russians have a super butch lesbian as a military leader so they are depraved and evil. The fact she will dare to fight "John Wayne" over some treasure he stole shows she is just plain wicked. The tiredest premise for a movie I have ever seen in my life.

Scenario summary:

1) Yay! John Wayne back from the dead! Senile but powerful, just like the U.S.!!

2) Oh no! Tribal ethnics with spears! Run, white hero, before these illegal immigrants chase you all the way to the border crossing at Tijuana!

3) Oh no! Commies and bull dykes! John Wayne's greatest fears! It's communism plus gays/lesbian/transmen in the military, what is this, San Francisco?! Run back to Texas, senile republican grandpa!

I think I will skip this movie.

loving london

Caroline Grant sent me a fan letter from Scotland in 1994 when she was just 13. we've kept in touch all these years and today at soundcheck we got to meet in person for the very first time. she came with her two friends, Pauline & Abby, who are also coming to the show at G.A.Y. tonight. something shifted in my heart when i saw Caroline today. i feel an overwhelming sense of love and gratitude that has healed every negative feeling i've had about myself...ever. what a gift. thank you, Caroline.

Stuart Cameron was visiting The States when he saw me perform at Long Beach Pride in '05. he sent me a note shortly thereafter showcasing his wicked English sense of humor and we've continued to correspond ever since. yesterday, we met in person for the first time and had a grand time giggling and shopping at Harvey Nichols. i had a blast. top value, that kid is. thank you, Stuart.

i was in Piccadilly Circus today at Zavvi (formally Virgin MegaStore) standing in the Soul section when a man tapped me on the shoulder. he squinted his eyes and said "are you...?" i looked at him and said "why do you look so familiar to me?" i soon realized Mohieb Dahabieh is the London stylist i've corresponded with for several years now. well, of course, out of the 8 million people in London, he and i would bump into one another. we spent the afternoon together and i now have a new friend for life. i am in The Zone. thank you, Mohieb.

strength of the heart...weakness of the dollar

i did not buy the Union Jack jacket i'm wearing in this picture, but i did buy 2 coats, 2 hats, 3 shirts and 3 ties here at sherrys.co.uk just off Carnaby Street. i shouldn't be buying anything given the current weakness of the dollar.

S.B.U.K.

last night's screening of Starrbooty went perfectly splendid. the sold out audience loved the movie, and the Q & A that followed was one of the most enthusiastic i've ever done. in the film, during Starrbooty's transformation into 'Cupcake', there are captions that flash the name of the "designer" she's wearing during the modeling montage. some of the retailers spoofed in the sequence don't exist in the U.K. (Forever 21, Jaclyn Smith, Carrot Top) so the jokes were lost here, but everything else they got. i mean, c'mon... fart jokes are universal.

tower of power

i woke up at 3:45 am and read "The Power of Now" for three hours. then i grabbed a muffin and cup a coffee at Starbucks and proceeded across The Thames via Waterloo Bridge, just as the sun was rising. beautiful.

i had "Tower Of London" by ABC playing on repeat for the entire walk. fucking brilliant song. production on the whole "How to be a Zillionaire" album is phenomenal.

interesting that i'm finally reading "The Power of Now", even more interesting that i bought this copy of the book at Walmart in Dade City, Florida.
