Sassy Magazine 1993

My buddy, Maureen Fitzgerald found this site which pays homage to the '90's teen magazine "Sassy". I've always loved this outfit designed by Zaldy (of course). You can't tell from this photo, but Mathu styled a huge white afro with Pocahantas braids framing my face. BRILL.

"Boots" my favorite Border Collie

I've been on Georges' ranch in Wyoming since Tuesday. I love it - been doing some writing and relaxing. Also reviewing audition reels for season 3 of RDR. Very tedious process - most applicants show their costumes on hangers rather than model them (boring) and 95% have fashioned their persona after Lady Gaga. Only 1 in 25 seem to have the Charisma, Uniqueness, Nerve & Talent needed to be cast. If you think you've got what it takes, go onto the casting site and apply.

Sunset People

I spent the night of RDR's Grand Finale at Giorgio Moroder's 70th B'day party at Spago. I've known him since '94 when he produced a duet with Elton John and I.

The party was amazing! People flew in from around the world to be there. All the members of his legendary hit making music machine where there: Pete Belotte, Harold Faltermeyer, Keith Forsey and of course Donna Summer.

At one point during the testimonials, Donna nudged me to get up and say something, but I felt too shy to follow such heavy hitters as Jerry Bruckheimer and Wolfgang Puck, who revealed that Giorgio was responsible for giving the restaurant it's famous name.

After dinner, Randy Barbato, myself and E.G. Daily got the party going by being the first ones on the dance floor. Chris Cox spun the classic Moroder hits that shaped and influenced music as we know it today. Also in attendance: Jody den Broeder, Susan Munao, Joe Esposito, Terry Nunn, Bruce Roberts and Thomas Gottschalk.

Blossom Butterworth 2010

Twenty years ago, a skit I remembered only as "Blossom Butterworth" from The Carol Burnett Show became a massive obsession with the party clique that Lahoma, Lady Bunny and I would drag back to our pad at 5 Ninth Ave after the club closed. Still buzzing, we would scream and howl, watching it on repeat until the sun came beaming through the second story window. This ritual went on for many, many months.

The Carol Burnett Show had been off the air for ten years by that point, but was still a major reference source for everyone in our group of friends... and clearly still is today, as you'll recognize a line in this skit that I use on every episode of Drag Race.

Yesterday, I described the skit to Brett Clement and he did the research and found it (it's actually called "PTA Show"). I can't tell you how happy seeing it again has made me. Just wait tell I show Bunny and Lahoma. GOD BLESS YOUTUBE and Brett and Carol Burnett.

Down & Out in Beverly Park

My morning hike takes me to a summit that overlooks a cluster of 40 homes called Beverly Park. Each home is the size of a department store, and I secretly dream of owning one of them. Click here to peek inside one that's on the market.

Similarly, click here to see the Bel Air home Nicolas Cage has on the market.

Her album is addictive!

For the past 4 weeks, I've been playing Agnes' "Dance Love Pop" nonstop. It's a throwback to 90's dance music... DELICIOUS.

Rest in Poetry, Elegies to the Fallen of RuPaul's Drag Race, week nine

WEEK NINE:
Since she is the baby of the group, it's a nursery rhyme for Tatianna:

TA-TA, TATI

Little Miss Tati, working her body,
Not a whole lot to say;
She served us real
At every meal,
And so she must sashay away.

Rest In Poetry: Tatianna

Mister Ricky Marson will honor each fallen queen of RuPaul's Drag Race with a poem.

(Programming Note: Due to editor error, this tribute - due after last week's episode - is only posted now. Last night's episode was a she-peat. Don't get dejected or distrustful, though...next week's the GRAND tranny finale!)

I met Adam Lambert!

Right after I snatched the trophy for "Outstanding Reality Program", I went backstage to the press area and bumped right into him. I had already planned to recite a lyric from one of his songs in advance if the situation presented itself, which of course it did. I looked him dead in the eye and said "You made me want to listen to music again". He said "OMG! That's the song I'm about to perform right now!" Needless to say, he fucking turned it O-U-T.

Role Playing

There are really only two types of people, the ones who understand that all the world's a stage and we are merely actors playing roles, and the ones who actually believe they are the role they're playing.
