Tuesday, March 31, 2009 the devil in miss jackson shot a music video for "Devil Made Me Do It" yesterday. Mathu & Andrew directed. i think it's the first music video where i appear both in & out of drags. my out of drags look was inspired by Robert Mitchum in the film "The Night Of The Hunter". my in drags imagery was totally Janet Jackson as The Devil. | Permalink can't do two things at once i do alot of press interviews over the phone, and i'm always a little leery when i hear the interviewer typing on a keypad as i'm delivering the answer to their question. inevitably, the published article is filled with inaccuracies. stop already with the School of Journalism routine... get a friggin' tape recorder! at the end of the day, as long as there's picture and my name is spelled correctly, i'm fine with it. | Permalink Saturday, March 28, 2009 damn, Starbucks! they sell their Key Lime Crumb Cake only at airports, and you need a boarding pass to get to it. that's why i had to buy 4 pieces yesterday. i reasoned that i would share my loot with Lucian, but 2 hours later i had eaten them all. damn, them! | Permalink the bitch is back i got back to LA in time for Elton John & Martyn Lawrence Bullard's birthday party. It's when an actor drops character and addresses the audience. The other actors on stage hate it because it immediately breaks the illusion that what's happening on stage is really real. The animosity that drag queens experience by society at large is due to the same scenario. People get angry when the role they're playing is revealed to be nothing more than an illusion. When the hoax is revealed, their ego instructs them to retaliate and discredit the rogue player who broke the 4th wall. If you are confused by this analogy, then you are completely normal. Your confusion is the result of attempting to override the system. Your ego is the largest part of a system that convinces you the illusion is real. It was designed to not disengage. It was constructed to not self analyze, the same way you cannot point at the finger you are pointing with. It will fight tooth and nail to not be destroyed. Drag makes fun of the ego. The ego does not like that. There is a "safe word" that will disengage your ego momentarily. It's actually three little words that will override the system without fail. After you say these three words, you will experience the vastness of the universe, therefore answering the question... who am I? = | Permalink Monday, March 02, 2009 Lyrics: ChampionLast weekend, I performed 2 nights in Tampa at a cabaret called "L'Olivier." I had a blast performing songs from my new album for the very first time. I got chills while singing "Champion", especially with Entertainment Weekly referring to this period as my comeback.En route, I had a one hour layover in Atlanta and had dinner with a man i met in line at Pascals Soul Food. Joelle and I usually eat there everytime we pass through Hartsfield-Jackson, but this time I was traveling to Florida from LAX and she from JFK.
