high voltage

my life totally rocks my cock! i'm having a Tony the Tiger grrreat time! last night i went country line dancing with High Voltage: & Lisa Gastineau in Studio City California, and tonight, Joelle & i went walking down a Pasco County Florida hi-way en route to Walmart so i could get some Claritin. i ended up buying Hannah Montana T-shirts instead cause the pharmacist had gone home for the night. yet, even with my new demanding friend, seasonal allergies, my life is still friggin mint.

ps- the Hannah Montana T-shirts were $7 each and made out of the thinnest "fabric" i've ever seen. hawt! oh, and i bought "the power of now" in paperback at Walmart, too. "People in the party, hot hot hot!"

claritina

i'm posting this blog from Tampa Airport where they have free WiFi... the true sign of a sophisticated civilization. wireless internet connections should be free everywhere. anyway, i check my emails and Fenton has forwarded me this article which explains why, now, for the first time in my life, i have allergies...big time. it's friggin global warming. this shit is kicking my ass.

aarp & the bpm

it'd be great if people in my demographic (whatever that is) had the buying power to make a cd a bona fide hit. unfortunately we don't, that distinction belongs to snot nosed teenagers and people in their early twenties. normal people lose interest in pop music somewhere in their thirties. i never did or will. last week, i bought Michael McDonald's new cd at Target (ugggh, Target, at least it wasn't Walmart). next on my list is new Trina on april 1st & Mariah on april 15. all the other new cd's i'll get via the new old fashioned way... wink wink.

tolle road

Lee Rose gave me a copy of the new Eckhart Tolle book, which is wonderfully written and easy to follow. the subject matter isn't new or revolutionary, but his practical approach to adjusting your consciousness at any given moment is. i've used the technique on some of my wounded areas and it's been really effective (when an ointment just won't do). the book, "A New Earth", then challenges me to release these old wounds as part of my perceived identity, and to constantly remember my real identity. i really dig this kind of shit. always have.

easter is my favorite of all holidays. mainly because i love a good comeback story, but secretly i really dig celebrating the day Jesus became a zombie (according to popular belief).

Max Grand

Randy picked me up at 8pm for Perez Hilton's b'day party at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel. we were the first to arrive and the first to leave. for 45 minutes, it was just Randy and me on the dancefloor tearing it up to Prince, Lisa Lisa and Cameo. friggin' awesome! we were both soaking wet by the time we tipped outta there.

by 9:30, we were at Dave Mace's 40th b'day party hanging with Howard Bragman & Bruno Tonioli.

10:30 saw us at Bobby Trendy's studio for the Escort Awards after-party. we got to meet 2008's Escort of the Year "London Boy Pete", Host Jonny McGovern and the lovely, prolific and still sexy porn superstar Max Grand. i was at home in my pajamas by 11:30.

boy oh boy

last night, my buddy Roland turned me on to an Italian singer called Sabrina Salerno. he grew up in Russia, where Sabrina would sell-out Moscow's Olympic Stadium three nights in a row. as he played her smash hit "all of me", i thought to myself "wow, her producers really nailed the production style of my pop music heroes Stock/Aitken/Waterman". on further investigation, i found that the song was indeed produced by S.A.W. and that her song "like a yo-yo" was produced by Giorgio Moroder, another of my pop music heroes.

there will be tears

i did a self induced crying cleanse this morning. nothing's wrong, it's just something i like to do every now and again to re-boot my emotional blah blah. kinda like restarting your computer. today i chose "a vision of mother" by Ricky Skaggs. that song fucks my shit up real good. tears flow from beginning to end. here's my sure-fire, tear conjuring playlist:

1. in my life...bette midler ("for the boys" soundtrack)
2. the carter family...carly simon
3. the greatest man i never knew...reba
4. a vision of mother...ricky skaggs
5. if it's magic...stevie wonder
6. i can't complain...patti labelle
7. all alone on christmas...darlene love
8. oh holy night...mariah
9. i'll take today...tanya tucker
10. alot of things different...kenny chesney

boys town

monday night, after Tom & Ben's recording studio, i took Rusty and The Jarics to The Palms where we saw the drag show. the boys didn't really get the subversive David Lynch aspect of the club, but they're very young.

tuesday night, we all went country line dancing, and then went to see Anne-Marie at Jumbo's. she totally turned it out, and we endlessly "made it rain" during her set. these boys had NEVER seen a girl work a pole like A.M.

Dreamgirl's Revue was our next stop, where Chad Michaels had the crowd in a frenzy with his Cher does Faye does Joan Crawford extravaganza. absolutely amazing!

this ain't no Wendy interview

we rushed home last night to see MC on SNL. before i comment on the show, let me repeat this old adage about the record business: if a singer gets a #1 song, they're very lucky. two #1 songs, they're very talented. three #1 songs, they're a fucking musical genius. on the eve of Mariah's eighteenth #1 single, it's been an honor and a pleasure to have witnessed her phenomenal rise. the woman knows her shit.

"Touch My Body" is as well crafted a pop song as it gets. the topical, catchy, sexy without being vulgar lyrics, the irresistible melody and her deliberately measured vocal performance easily makes it one of the best pop songs of the year. i can't wait to buy the new album E=MC2.

having said that, watching Mariah perform always makes me feel anxious and nervous. i can feel her nevousness. she's never comfortable in her own body. aren't there pills and cocktails one can take for that? just kidding, lambs. shake & bake!

the second song "Migrate" will probably grow on me, but i sure couldn't hear "hit single" last night. and when will having "the rapper of the week" on a record be done with... it's so played out and annoying. last week it was T.I, this week it's T-Pain, hopefully next week it will be T-Bag... now that would be fun... and things of that nature.

smokey and the bandit

it's now been 4 years since i smoked a cigarette. more than the nicotine, i was addicted to blocking my feelings with fags. for almost 30 years, i put up a wall of smoke that suffocated feelings and kept people at bay.

back when i started, smoking was a socially sanctioned time-out. if the shit got too heavy, i'd light one up. i deferred my frustrations for so long that after 3 decades i was facing a colossal monolith of emotions i had never dealt with.

today, i use the processing tools i've learned to sort through feelings that overwhelm me. the greatest processing tool is remembering to breathe, something i didn't do very well when i chain smoked Kool filter kings.

toot toot

the Governor Spitzer debacle had me really depressed all day yesterday. a hot piece of ass like him deserves a hot piece of ass whenever he wants it. this hypocritical country always misses the boat on real leadership because the best political minds usually have drugs and or sex in their background. sex and love are not the same. monogamy is unnatural.

just got back from dropping Micaya at LAX.
having her here was really "terrific".

hiking:
Fryman Canyon is better than Runyon because
you don't bump into everyone you've ever met during the 45 minute hike.

strip clubbing:
i really dig turning people on to Anne-Marie "AM".
no matter how much i build her up, she always delivers.

you must be diligent about shopping here
because the good shit gets snatched up fast.

as teenage stoners, Micaya & i went to a Yes concert in my sister's brand new Rolls Royce.
Rick Derringer was the opening act.

let them eat cake...or not

Bruce McCoy's b'day party was in full swing by the time Micaya and i had arrived. as Jon, Bruce's partner, lit the candles on the cake he warned he may be "too lifted to be doing this"... the perfect comic set-up. we dimmed the lights, summoned Bruce and sang "happy birthday". as Jon held the cake up for Bruce to blow out the candles, it slipped off the tray and fell on Bruce's foot. we all howled for a good 5 minutes solid. it was the best birthday cake ceremony i have EVER witnessed.

ps- i hope Jon doesn't beat himself up over this. it was really funny.

name game

Micaya changed her name over 20 years ago, but in my mind i still call her by the birth-name she had when i met her back in high school. over the years, i've known many people who've changed their names, and i've had no problem adjusting to their new moniker, but for some reason, my mind won't let go of Micaya's old name.

it's probably because 1976 was such a pivotal benchmark in my life that i canonized everyone i met that first year in Atlanta. she's coming to visit for a few days and i pray i don't slip up and call her Tyrone.

woop woop

i walked around West Hollywood last night with T.L. for about 3 hours. we had coffee, window shopped on Sunset Plaza, had pizza and then walked over to Peanuts for the T-Girl strip show. as soon as we walked in, the D.J. played "pullover" by Trina. how effin' awesome is that? it's only one of the 10 best songs ever recorded.

i've been obsessed with Miss Trina lately... ok, not lately, she's been on my mind constantly for the past 5 years, nonstop. even with Mariah, Janet and Keyshia dominating my brainwaves, Trina's "single again" keeps reclaiming the top spot in me head.

cowboy's work is never done

T.L. was being modest when he told me he wasn't very good at the Texas Two-Step. i was in giddy gay ecstasy when i closed my eyes and he led me around the dance floor. yes, it was the music and the madness, but even more thrilling was letting someone else take control.

are my new rims too big for Mama's Volvo? not sure. i hit a bump in the road and heard the tires rub against the wheel well. i'm gonna have the suspension lifted. i mean, come on, isn't everything lifted in Hollywood?

eargasm overload

OMG! i'm lovin' the new Janet album. hell, i loved the last one. that said, i've really had enough of her simulating an orgasm in my headphones. damn it, Janet, get a room.

sexy change

i'm not interested in politics, at least not the government kind. and yes, i know it effects me and i should be more concerned given the staggering amount of taxes i pay, but i can't get excited about "change" when i've seen so little of it during the 9 presidencies i've witnessed. all politicians turn into the pigs that inhabit Farmer John's house in the book "Animal Farm"... power drunk a-holes who will lie and steal faster than you can say bacon bits. yes, i'll vote, but out of respect for the idea of democracy, not because i expect to get any.

cosmic thing

yesterday morning, i ran into Fred Schneider of The B52's at a coffee shop in West Hollywood. he said they were in town shooting a music video for "Funplex", and asked if i wanted to make a cameo. i said absolutely, just tell me when and where.

when i walked onto the sound stage, the first person i saw was my Mathu Andersen. funny because i had just been talking about him in a pitch meeting an hour earlier. he had been hired to do make-up for both Kate Pierson and Cindy Wilson. by the time Keith Strickland came over to greet me, we all simultaneously realized it had been 18 years since i appeared in their "Love Shack" video.
