Martha Wash slept here

saturday night was only the second time Martha Wash and i performed our version of "it's raining men", which went top ten in England. the other time was a couple of years ago in Pensacola, Florida.

when performing next to Martha, it's very difficult to not get completely intimidated by her omnificent voice. on stage, i found myself becoming so transfixed by her magic that i had to remind myself i was performing too. she is absolutely one of the greatest singers to ever stand in front of a microphone and open her mouth.

our hotel rooms were next door to one another, and although we never acknowledged it, i knew she was there because i heard hardcore black gospel coming through the walls at 2 o'clock in the morning. i mean, who else in Paris would be playing Shirley Caesar at that hour?
