young divas

There's an Australian group made up of 4 Idol contestants.
They've had hits over there with covers of two Stock Aitken Waterman songs:
Donna Summer's "This Time I Know It's For Real"
Lonnie Gordon's "Happenin' All Over Again"

They also cover another couple of SAW songs on their album.

Thought you might like them. You can see videos for This Time and Happenin' on their myspace page.

soul brother number one

the first live concert i ever saw was James Brown at the San Diego Sports Arena. he blew my 9 year old mind and ruined me by setting such a high standard. six years later, he invited me and my car broker brother in-law out to his house on the Georgia/South Carolina border. he wanted my brother in-law to help liquidate his stable of 36 automobiles.

i remember asking him why he put the song "Public Enemy #1" as the b-side of two different singles. he said because he really loved the song and wanted more people to hear it. he was very impressed that i knew so many intricate details of his career. i was very impressed that he was so kind.

manhattan transfer

i finally saw shortbus tonight.
i loved it.
groundbreaking.
it belongs on my top ten of '06 list.

i saw it at the quad theater.
i always sit in the last row.
i had to move up several rows
after i was distracted by 2 rats
having dinner behind my seat.

i'm having coffee with the writer/director
of shortbus tomorrow afternoon.
