TRAGEDY

the BROTHERS GIBB mean more to me than i can express in mere words. for me to say that i love their music would be a gross understatement. i live and breathe THE BEE GEE’S, and their musical contributions have enriched my life immeasurably. when i learned that MAURICE had made the transition, i was deeply saddened. graciously, he left behind a legacy that will live forever. my sadness quickly turned to anger after i read an online article calling THE BEE GEE’S a “70’s disco band”. four decades of masterful musicianship, ethereal harmonies, unforgettable melodies, songwriting skills on par with the greats ...and some hack news agency has the nerve to refer to THE BEE GEE’S as a “70’s disco band”. was the reporter trying to dumb down for the sake of the audience or was the reporter just plain dumb ? why would a brilliant, successful career that spans generations be pared down to “70’s disco band” ? why must everything be reduced to the lowest common denominator ?
