my cineplex hero

Police in Philadelphia say a man became so angry over a family's chattering in a movie theater that he shot the father in the arm. James Joseph Cialella, 29, not pictured above, is charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault in the Christmas Day shooting.

wear it and be wonderful

saturday night, Randy had about 6 people over for dinner, after which we played a round of Lists. when it came time to tally the scores, Brian remarked that my score of 22 was "almost flawless". well, my ears pricked right up, then i shrieked "oh my god, that's the perfect name for my new fragrance, "Almost Flawless... for she who isn't quite".

Hi, Voltage!

i picked Voltage up at LAX on monday night, and by tuesday morning we were off and running. we hiked Fryman Canyon, lunched, shopped, and then went on another hike in Franklin Canyon.

after traffic, we went country line dancing at OCH's, and topped the evening off by a visit to the Pole Goddesses at Jumbo's.

wednesday morning, we drove out to the Santa Monica Pier for lessons at The Trapeze School. it was so effin boss! there were only four people in our class, so we got to fly many times during the two hour course. we advanced so quickly that our instructor had us doing a "catches", where you lock arms with someone on another swing as you let go of the swing you're on... totally Cirque du Soleil!

hell on wheels

friday night, i DJ'd the World Of Wonder Roller Disco Xmas Party! i've never really DJ'd a party before. i was a friggin' BLAST!

in the past, i've always declined DJ gigs because i don't like being that accessible to drunk people. this was different because it's family. World Of Wonder is the company that has helped guide my career for 22 years.

throughout the night, i'd put a record on and skate, then put another record on and skate some more. i also got to meet the brilliant Deven Green: , the fox behind the Brenda Dickson parodies.

here is a short list of the records i played:

apache...sugarhill gang
pyt...michael jackson
pullover...trina
human...the killers
love is like an itching in my heart...the supremes
into the groove...ma'dukey stick
let's groove...earth, wind & fire
living on a prayer...bon jovi
right back where we started from...maxine nightingale
strike it up...blackbox
never tear us apart...inxs
raspberry beret...prince
let the music play...shannon
all for you...janet
it takes two...seduction
living in america...james brown

and the last record of the night was: hard candy christmas...dolly parton

my favorite male singer ever

Recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions:
• S -- Ask the individual to SMILE
• T -- Ask the person to TALK and SPEAK (coherently) A SIMPLE SENTENCE
• R -- Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS

If he or she has trouble with any one of these tasks, call 911 immediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.
Try very hard to remember the letters STR, and remember that they stand for Smile, Talk, Raise. Maybe remember them as the first three letters of the word “stroke.”

Hollywood & Devine

on sunday, Randy threw a birthday party for Nolan, Fenton's 2 year old kid. the guests consisted of 5 actual children and 30 television executives, Hollywood agents and actors. the perfect ratio. i sat with Brian Heinberg & Monica Lewinsky in the living room analyzing the photos in the Celine Dion 2008 tour booklet. i also had the pleasure of meeting Jane Lynch, who seemed to be as tall as me.

by 5pm, i managed to be the first guest at Jenifer Lewis' xmas bash in Sherman Oaks. the party centered around food, the piano & Jenifer, of course. guest included Marc Shaiman, Scott Wittman, Mervyn Warren, Niki Harris, Anna Maria Horsford, Allee Willis, Niecy Nash & Loretta Devine.

"human? or are we dancer? STFU!

after the Kathy Griffin performance at Hollywood & Highland, i stopped in at The Virgin MegaStore to buy Beyoncé, Grace Jones, The Killers, Pussycat Dolls and Brandy. i've had all those albums for weeks, but i wanted to officially buy them out of respect.

i can't get that fuckin' Killers song "human" outta my head. i was initially attracted to them because of that gay little bolero jacket the lead singer wears (the one with turkey feathers covering the shoulders), but now i love them because they're just plain gay.

first look

for the past three days, i've been trying to post the 'first look' clip of RuPaul's Drag Race on my site, but Blogger just won't let me do it. i even went to YouTube to see if i could copy the embedded file, but it hasn't been posted there yet.

by the way, i never Google myself or look at clips of me on YouTube. it's way too strange and raw. can you imagine seeing clips of yourself from 25 years ago?

so for those of you who haven't seen the First Look at RuPaul's Drag Race,

partly cloudy

as i've said before, i love the cloudy days in LA. i think they seem more significant because it's usually sunny. it's as if the land says "i need some fucking relief here!". when i think back to my childhood in San Diego, it's the cloudy days i remember the most.

Liza @ The Palace

monday night, i picked Lahoma up at LAX and headed directly to Allee Willis' house, where she was having a shindig for the touring cast of The Color Purple. there was fried catfish, greens and peach cobbler. we walked in just as Jenifer Lewis was re-enacting the Helen Lawson - ladies room scene from "Valley of the Dolls".

then we tipped over to Here Bar for the drag talent show, and later to The Palms for their David Lynch inspired drag show. i hadn't gone out in ages, so it was fun to show my friend the twisted subversion Hollywood has to offer, without the "cool" factor that ruins Manhattan nightlife.

tuesday night, we went country line dancing, and then we "made it rain" for the pole dancers at Jumbo's. by 11pm, we were at Rage for The Dreamgirls Revue, where they were performing a Male Drag Special that prompted Lahoma to say "there should be a Proposition 9 on the ballot which denies Drag Queens the right to perform in Male Drag". i'd vote for that.

wednesday night we watched Rosie Live, but turned it off after 20 minutes. was it just me or did Liza sound like Jimmy Durante? it'll be another 20 years before anyone tries to do a tv variety show again.

thursday night, we drove to The Valley for the drag show at Cobra. gorgeous, twisted, fabulous and wrong. they had a Thanksgiving buffet that was free for all the Tranny Chasers.

Lahoma flew back to NYC friday night, but we still managed to do some hiking, shopping and sightseeing during her short visit. it was also good for me to break my "all work - no play" routine for a little taste.
